Dog Diet - Types of Diets at Various Ages and Health Conditions

Our beloved dogs require different types of dog diets at various ages. Like, if you have a cute puppy, it will need milk as its major dog food. While a fully grown dog will certainly need its protein to come from such food items like chicken or beef. You may also throw in some hard-boiled eggs and milk to the adult dog diet.

Do you know that puppies have greater fat, carbohydrate and protein requirements than their adult counterpart? Furthermore, the cute puppies are assigned more feeding session in one day than the adult animal. The dog diet requirements that are based on movement are more for younger dogs as they are obviously more active than the adult animals.

Older dogs require protein foods that are digestible and assimilated easily. The diet schedule must be accompanied by sufficient amount of water. Never attempt to feed elderly dogs with so much protein as this can prove to be harmful for their renal system with kidney failure as one of the serious effects.

Needless to say, elderly dogs should be given less feeds as their movements are very limited and hence they would need only a small amount of energy.

Diet for the female dogs, particularly the pregnant ones should not be fed too much as it can cause discomfort to the animal. Likewise, only special dietary type should be provided to nursing and pregnant dogs, one that will provide them with the balanced nutrition as well as sufficient supplements such as pet vitamins and minerals.

Dog diets on the other hand for the nursing pet with its puppies must consist of nutritional food containing good amount of the mineral calcium. This will ensure that there will not be any deficiency on calcium, which means the bones of your dogs will become healthy and strong.
