Anyone who owns a dog will know that they can be pricey.
Responsible dog owners are conscious of the costs which a pet incurs and so go into it with their eyes wide-open.
But, unfortunately, others wish to distance themselves somewhat from their pets, preferring them to sleep outside at night. Now there may be a whole host of reasons for this situation, and really it is the choice of the family as to how they prefer their homes to be kept.
For these owners, however, the necessity to purchase a doghouse is important, and if not done properly, can be very expensive!
The price of dog homes can range between "budget buys" which are not much more than a wooden shell, to very lavish constructions complete with a porch and steps to make their dog house into a luxury home!
Frustrating, of course, is the fact that the price-tag rises proportionately to the standard of the doghouse.
You might find the best option is to build your own doghouse.
A doghouse should be massive enough for your pet to nicely turn but no larger than that for it to keep the dog's body heat and so self-insulate to a degree. Given that your doghouse should be sized for your particular dog, you will find that, if you've an especially big or tiny dog, the store-bought ones are not ideal.
This where building your own can solve this problem!
The first is to make sure that the doghouse is raised from the floor a touch to stop moisture from seeping into the wood. This is the most important thing you want to stick to when building your own doghouse!
