Building a Secured Door For Your Dog House

The best way of taking care of your beloved dog doesn't only include giving your pet the right food and keeping its body clean. If you want your pet to stay outside your house and guard you house, you have to provide your pet a decent shelter to protect it against harsh weather like extreme heat, rain, or snow. Shelter for your dog outside your house means dog house.

Below is the list of the basic parts and features of a dog house you have to keep in mind.

1. Door - make a strong and sturdy door for your dog to give the pet the optimum weather protection and additional safety from other possible harsh elements outside its house. Your door should be easy to open and close for your dog.

A good door can cancel weather elements out, consider the structure the house and its door. A small door on the other hand enables elements of bad weather to get trapped inside easily and may cause dampness and will later accommodate molds and mildew in your dog's bed. This is not good for your dog's health as it can cause major allergies and other serious respiratory problems.

2. Foundation - this should be strong and sturdy too. You can use plastic material for your dog house door, plastic can withstand harsh weather longer than wood, it does not absorb moisture and is easier to clean and maintain.

You can also opt for a transparent plastic door, this enables your pet to see outside.

3. Extra comfort - before you actually build your dog house, consider the size of your dog, the house should not be too big nor too small for your pet. Dogs don't feel very comfortable if its house is too small, it can also be bad for your pet in hot weather.

Too big of a dog house, on the other hand, will not protect your pet from cold weather, as its body can not heat the shelter entirely and may cause health problems for your dog. You can provide blankets and mats inside for extra comfort.
